Listening to G₄

Where does the music come from?
A live piano–viola improvisation by Srečno at STARMUS Science Camp, Tenerife.

Listening to G₄ is a live piano–viola improvisation by Srečno, performed by Zarja Medved and Elmar C. Fuchs as part of the STARMUS Science Camp in Tenerife.

The performance concludes Elmar’s presentation Water’s Not Just H₂O: A Journey Through the Hidden Physics of the Most Extraordinary Substance in the Universe. After travelling from the unusual physics of water to cosmic influences and a multidimensional hypothesis on water and biological order, the presentation turns inward and becomes music.

The title refers to G₄, a conceptual imaginary space in Burkhard Heim’s multidimensional framework associated with the indescribable origin of information and organization of living systems. The musicians approach this idea not as a score, but as an open question: can music arise when they let go of deliberate control, listen inwardly and respond to what emerges?

Piano and viola meet without a predetermined composition. Their shared improvisation becomes the experiment—a moment of attentive listening in which science, intuition and sound enter into dialogue.
