About Srečno
Srečno was born from the musical collaboration between Zarja Medved and Elmar C. Fuchs, who also perform together in the art-rock project ELOAĦ. The duo emerged after the remarkable success of their live performances in Idrija, Slovenia, as part of the international art project IPIHAN – If Paradise Is Half As Nice.
For this project, conceived by the Dutch artist Esther Kokmeijer, Zarja and Elmar performed at the entrance of the historic mercury mine in Idrija — a site steeped in industrial and cultural history. There, they presented the piece Srečno, an improvisation in three parts entitled Solid, Vapour, and Liquid, reflecting the three states of mercury once extracted from that very place.
The title Srečno — meaning “good luck” in Slovenian — was suggested by Esther Kokmeijer herself, echoing the traditional greeting exchanged among miners before descending into the mine. After the highly positive response from the audience, Zarja and Elmar chose to carry that name forward, founding the duo Srečno in honour of the piece and the spirit it embodied.
Today, the duo continues to evolve through performances that transform the energy of the moment into sound and emotion, merging intuition, presence, and resonance — each performance a unique musical encounter shaped by place and time.
